Center of Innovative and Applied Bioprocessing (CIAB) is an autonomous national institute under the Department of Biotechnology (Govt. of India). This futuristic innovation institute of its own kind in the country has a mission of advancing knowledge, leads, and emerging technologies/processes relevant to the agri-food sector towards applications and products. It aims to link them with societal benefits through catalyzing/promoting entrepreneurial action around bioprocesses, bio-products, value-addition to bioproducts, etc. with special reference to the agri-food sector. (A) FELLOWSHIPS FUNDED BY CIAB FOR INTERNAL R&D PROJECTS / ACTIVITIES
- Junior Research Fellow (Chemical/Material/Nano Science) – One position
Age limit –28 Years
Fellowship –Rs. 31,000/- per month + (HRA as admissible or Hostel facility, if available)
Tenure: One Year, extendable (post-evaluation) for subsequent years subject to satisfactory progress, institutional needs, and financial provisions.
Qualifications : (i) M.Sc. in Chemistry (any discipline)/Biochemistry / Nanotechnology from a recognized University / Institute OR M. Pharm. / M.S. (Pharm.) / M. Tech. in Medicinal Chemistry / Process Chemistry / Pharmaceutical Technology / Biotechnology / Nanotechnology from a recognized university/institute and
(ii) NET / GATE / GPAT / any other relevant equivalent nature of test qualified.
Junior Research Fellow (Chemical Sciences) – One position
Age limit – 28 Years
Fellowship – Rs. 31,000/- per month + (HRA as admissible or Hostel facility, if available) Tenure: One Year, extendable (post-evaluation) for subsequent years subject to satisfactory progress, institutional needs, and financial provisions.
Qualifications:
(i) M.Sc. in Chemistry (General / Organic / Inorganic / Physical / Others) from a recognized University / Institute OR M.E. / M. Tech. (Chemical Engineering) from a recognized university/institute and
(ii) NET / GATE / any other relevant equivalent nature of test qualified.
(B) FELLOWSHIPS UNDER EXTERNALLY FUNDED PROJECTS AT CIAB, MOHALI
- Project Associate – Two positions
Project Title –“Exploration of native microorganisms and biocatalysts from traditional fermented products of Sikkim Himalayas for development of lactose-free and bioactive peptide enriched milk-based functional products”.
Funded By –Department of Biotechnology (Government of India).
Principal Investigator – Dr. Sudhir Pratap Singh, Scientist-C
Duration of the project – Three Years
Age limit – 28 Years
Qualifications
(i) M.Sc in Biotechnology / Microbial Biotechnology / Biochemistry / Microbiology from a recognized University / Institute OR M. E. / M.Tech in Biotechnology from a recognized University / Institute and
(ii) NET / GATE / any other relevant equivalent nature of test qualified.
Fellowship – Rs. 31,000/- + (HRA as admissible or Hostel Facility, if available) Rs. 25,000/- + (HRA as admissible or Hostel Facility, if available for candidates without qualifications at point (ii) above.
Junior Research Fellow – One position
Project Title – “Chemo-Enzymatic Processing of Kinnow Juice Industry for Value Added Nutritional Products”.
Funded By – Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) under the ECRA scheme of DST (Govt. of India).
Principal Investigator – Dr. Meena Krishania, Research & Innovation – System Analyst Tenure of fellowship/Duration of the project – up to 23rd February 2021
Age limit – 28 Years
Fellowship – Rs. 31,000/- + (HRA as admissible or Hostel Facility, if available) Qualifications – (i) B.E. / B. Tech. / M.E. / M. Tech. (Food Engineering / Food Technology / Biotechnology / Biochemical) or M.Sc. (Food Science / Biotechnology / Biochemistry / Microbiology) from a recognized University/Institute and
(ii) NET / GATE / any other relevant equivalent nature of national tests qualified

Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interviews through video-conferencing mode.
Please note that no hard copy of the application is required at this stage.
Process of Engagement
The applications received will be screened by a committee for shortlisting the candidates for the interview. The eligible applicants would be interviewed by a duly constituted committee through video-conferencing mode. The committee would recommend the candidates, if found suitable, for consideration of the competent authority for engagement purely on a Fellowship/Stipendiary basis. Provisions of registration for Ph.D. exist at Universities/Institutes having MoU with CIAB subject to scholar’s tangible performance, promise, academic suitability, etc.
